The Pre-Goat Island Trip - uh - trip

In preparation for our Goat Island trip, I decided to take the girls camping to make sure they were indeed ready to "primitive" camp. Friday after work I loaded up the kids and the dog and headed out to Parson's Mountain campground. This campground is in close proximity to the house and the price is right ($7 per night). The nighttime temps were in the mid 60's and very comfortable while daytime temps in the mid to upper 80's were tolerable with the shade and the breeze.

The Brother in-law Hammock (aka - Da BIL)

This project started out with a call from my mother in-law. She needed me to come over to her house and pick up my birthday present from her son and his family. After the 5 minute drive over and a 2 minute fight with the back of her Jeep Liberty, I am standing in awe of a 1948 Kenmore Rotary Sewing Machine and Cabinet Search Amazon.com for kenmore sewing machine parts. Wow!!! What a great Birthday Present!!

I make a quick call to my B-I-L and thank him profusely for the gift. He says in response, "You are welcome, by the way, I don't care what color my hammock is" - his birthday was just 10 days after mine so I had to start hussling.

Because he was not versed in the art of hammock camping, I had to make this video - How to set up the BIL Hammock - so he could actually use his new gift.

The following video shows some of the materials needed to build a camping hammock.

When you can't go camping in the woods... Go camping in the backyard!

low temperature 41*F

9:45pm - The kids and I hung our hammocks under the tree house to enjoy the clear sky and the almost full moon.
11:45pm - the youngest (5) woke-up needing to come inside. Once inside, ends up in bed with Mommy.
6:30am - the oldest (8) was cold so I adjusted her tq and she went right back to sleep.
8:30am - We woke to the sound of the 5 yr old trying to get in her hammock.

Awesome time with the girls!

Who am I and Why am I here?

www.cwhammocks.comcwHammocks.com
is a DIY (do-it-yourself) site that is wholly dedicated to the production and use of hammocks and camping gear.

According to my family and friends, I suffer from a horrible and debilitating condition. It is an awful condition that is known as ADOS

(attention deficit...

...oooooh shiney).

It could be very successfully argued that I like starting projects; this web site is dedicated to the one hobby I have that allows me to stay focused long enough to see a project through to completion. I have even tried to document the process with pictures, video, and this web site.

While I did not start cwHammocks for selling hammocks, I will talk with you all day long about the joy and comfort derived from NOT sleeping on the ground. Once you are enlightened, I will do my best to help you get off the ground.

Oh yeah! Please be patient while I get this site up and running. I am a full-time dad, husband, employee, and a part-time student and hammock tinkerer so you will need to check back early and often for new content.
